I know there are receivers such as the Onkyo TXNR-801 that have an actual ethernet port for a feature they call "NetTunes", but aside from having a port like that on your home theater receiver, is there any way to stream music wirelessly via a home network to your sound system? If so, how? Thanks in advance for any help.

There are quite a few players out there you can use that either have wireless built in, check out the Roku line of music players for example, they have wireless built in.

You can always add a wireless ethernet bridge to any device with an ethernet jack to make it wireless also...

Also the Apple Airport Express can stream audio too as well as provide an ethernet bridge. I use it to deliver digital audio from a notebook and network an Xbox simultaneously.

If you want the best, check out the Squeezebox. I use for both wired and wireless and I can control my library using a iPaq. Very cool. I can also rip cd's in the FLAC lossless format, then convert to WAV on the fly.

Lastly, if you have a DAC, you can output the data from the Squeezebox to the DAC then to your amp. It's so good it can take the place of a high-end transport.

Good luck
