hi, does it really work, and if so how well....this sounds very good since windows is a terrible operating system and anything to improve stability would be good.

No, it's just win9x/me that are terrible operating systems. Why not give NT4 a try, will play MP3's, DVD's and suchlike fine... Dead stable, and the non-server version only requires at least 8mb RAM. Though for any kind of modern games you'll need Win2K or better usually.
