structured wiring - phones

I'm in the beginning stages of laying out my structured wiring plan. I see that most of the phone modules for enclosures come with RJ-45 connectors. Do you just use an RJ-45 connector on the enclosure end and tie into an RJ-11 box at the destination end or am I missing something?

I always use an RJ45 jack at the wall end as well. RJ11 connectors are compatible with RJ45 jacks. You just use the two center contacts (pins 4 and 5 or the blue pair of wires) for line 1 on your telepone. If you are using a 2-line phone, you would use pins 3 and 6 for the second line. This would be the orange pair if you are using the T568A standard or the green pair for 568B. You can find a more detailed explanation here and here . Hope this helps with your question.

Answers that question... thanks! No wonder I wasn't finding RJ-11 connectors anywhere.

How about structured wiring with dsl... how do most people handle this one? I would like to have a phone module that splits off the dsl signal to a single output. That way I could connect my dsl modem into that connector and not worry about putting dsl filters on all my phones throughout the house. I was looking at the Greyfox 4x12 module (F1475), but the instructions don't really address the dsl issue.
Leviton has a filter like this for their line of structured wiring panels. Here's a link for more info. I'm not sure what type of panel you are using, but I think some of the modules might be compatible with other manufacturers. You could always just throw a basic filter in the box although it wouldn't look as pretty. Just run the filtered side to your distibution block and the other to your DSL modem.

OnQ makes a module designed for this too. Splits the signal, filters the DSL noise for the phones, and then connect to your modem. Then run a network from the panel.
And just so you have planty of choices Channel Vision has one
