Stryke Prototype 15" Subwoofer Review

354 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Bob Sorel
I had been waiting for quite some time now to read a review of the new Stryke 15" drivers and passive radiators, as, like many of us here, I have been in pursuit of the ultimate subwoofer for my home theater, and more importantly to me, for my music system. I am a DIY'er for both reasons of money (I don't have a lot....hehe) and enjoyment (I love the satisfaction of building things myself), so building a top notch sub is very appealing to me. I just don't have an extra $2000+ to spend on a half way decent sub, so building a 22" cube that I believe will out perform ANY commercial design available at any price, for around $800 (including the 1375 watt amp I already bought for it) seems like the right thing to do http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

The review is very long, so rather than reprint it, I recommend that you just go here:

These drivers are not yet available, but should be within the next month or two. I plan on building the cabinet while I wait http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif

Bob,

I am just getting into DIY subwoofer building and need to get more info on where to get the raw drivers. I have gotten the box kits from parts express and assembled ones from mcm elec., but they only offer them for 12" drivers. Not real good with wood working, but have a friend who can help me. I would like to get higher quality drivers than the ones offered in the above catalogs. Any help with locating and pricing for better subwoofers would be great.
JBJR, the best place I know of to get information on DIY projects is at the Home Theater Forum. The have a section labeled "DIY and Advanced HT Topics Area" and there are a lot of people there involved with DIY subs. I would recommend posting any questions there until the day comes that a DIY section is opened here, but I have seen very little interest from the members that frequent this forum. They have a great bunch of people there that love DIY projects, and that is where I am getting my education http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif
