Please forgive me, but I have been searching this forum, but couldn't find the answers. Sorry is this is redundant.

I am setting up a HTPC here's my equipment:

AMD Athlon XP 1800+

512 Kingston 2100 DDR

ECS K7S6A (SiS 745 chipset) motherboard

ATI Radeon 7500 AIW

Sound Blaster Audigy

Toshiba DVD drive

WD 20gig hd

Win XP

Panasonic PT-LC75U projector (1024 x 768)

I just built this last night, mostly from parts I had laying around, with the exception of the AIW card. I haven't installed any drivers or software yet, just XP and any drivers that came with XP.

My questions:

What color level do you set the HTPC? 16bit or 32 bit?

Can I use the spdif out on the 7500 to pass both DD and DTS to my Onkyo receiver or will it only pass DD? I could not find a straight answer on this- from what I read only DD if you use ATI's dvd player. If you use PowerDVD or another dvd player will it pass both?? If you can, I may just ditch the Audigy.

I have a 16:9 screen with a 4:3 desktop- can I try to set the resolution at 1024 x 576 to get the desktop to fit in the screen?

Thanks,

Scott

Color Depth: 32bit

Not sure about the 7500's S/PDIF.

For custom resolutions, try using PowerStrip.
