Okay, I am obviously a cretin. I have a Lexicon MC-12B and the MC-12/B rackmount kit. I pop the 4 front black side screws off, install the ears and use the 4 new silver screws to hold the rack ears on...so what pray tell are the 2 long (3"?) silver screws, the brass plate and the black rubber "finger" for?!? These items were in a separate plastic bag in the kit. No instructions, no parts list, no 3/32" allen wrench (for $10K list, you'd think they'd give you the stupid allen wrench!) and the mysterious brass thing.

I am too scared to mount this thing yet--those 4 new screws were pretty short, and I can see the thing come crashing down in the rack. Is the brass thing some kind of brace or something? I can't for the life of me see where it would attach--or what the black rubber finger thing is for. Or did I get a few too many parts in this order?

I installed the rack mount kit on my MC-12 (which I absolutely Love!)

it installs just as you describe- there were no instructions or wrench with mine either- the longer screws on the sides seemed the proper length and I was able to tighten them securely- it mounts nicely in the rack

as far as the other parts- they were not in mine and I don't see where they would be used unless it has something to do with balanced input section?

btw- the MC-12 is excellent - I also got an LX-7 and am very pleased(I put my McCormack DNA-HT1 up for sale in classifieds)

I don't like the look of the units with the Lexicon rack ears-there are gaps at the corners- so I ordered Middle Atlantic RSH-4A custom mounts for each

Mark: thanks, I guess the other stuff was meant for some other product. Weird. I got the thing in the rack, and yes, the rack ears leave gaps--plus, the bottom of the MC-12B hangs down another 2", leaving a huge gap on the bottom. You'd think for all that money they could design ears that are flush. Can't wait to fire it up, though!

Enjoy!

you will need a 1 rackspace filler plate or the Middle Atlantic mount- they have versions for XLR and non- XLR units

btw if you get a blue or blank sceen with component inputs, just put unit in standby then back on again

I got the Middle Atlantic RSH-4A plasma cut custom rack mounts for the MC-12 and LX-7 but ran into a problem:

the LX-7 cutout was too short and the amp did not fit well- very tight as well

worse- I noticed the fan running more and the amp hotter in the mount: turns out the rackmount blocks a lot of the Lexicon LX-7 air vents- I removed the mounts and went back to the Lex rack ears- not quite as elegant but my amp is cool:)

I will return the Middle Atlantic mounts- in fairness, this is the first custom rackmount that was not right
