After suffering through the progressive playback inadequacies of a Philips DVDR75, I am in the market again for a recorder with DV input for under $500.

Obviously, this time I am looking for a player with good playback abilities as well.

(display is a Samsung HLN4365W DLP, if that matters)

So which recorders have the best playback with those constraints?

My refund from Philips should be here soon!

Thanks.

The Sony gx300 and gx7 have very good playback. They use the same technology as one of their ES dvd players. The model is listed in another thread here that asks about the gx200 vs a toshiba dvdr.

Some Circuit City stores still carry the gx7 and its still available from the sonystyle.com website. I think its also still avaiable from Crutchfield and Tweeter. The tread you posted isn't negative against the GX7, just the negative expereice dealing with BB.
