My advice is it the perfect time to upgrade to a proper sub.
Good luck.
Good luck.
Any specific recommendations? The reason I was looking at replacing the Amp is partly I've always been satisfied with the quality of bass and partly I don't have $400+ to drop on a new sub. I just dropped $1500 on a new PC after the CPU died.My advice is it the perfect time to upgrade to a proper sub.

Harmanaudio.com has kept putting the Infinity Reference R12 sub on sale for $170 delivered. I purchased 3 of them and have been very happy so far. It's not on sale right now though. You might want to keep your eyes on the site. Non-powered speakers don't tend to "go bad". For me, three replacements in seven years would be unacceptable.I have a Polk PSW505 Sub. Unfortunately I don't have one of the older BASH ones that apparently don't have issues. The Plate amp went out again, this time just outside the warranty window. Best their support could offer me was $180 + s/h, so probably around $200. Not super keen on that option since this will be the 3rd time in 7 years of replacing it. On some Polk sites, people mention the amp for this sub only seem to last 2-3 years which is crazy. My dad has some Polk speakers that are more than 20 years old and never had an issue.
I like the sound and would hate to replace the whole sub. I was referred to Parts Express for Amp Plates. I'm fine with tools so altering the opening for these isn't an issue. The ones that I was told are compatible are:
Bash 300S $179.99
Yung SD300 $136.98
Yung SD300-6 $136.98
I've also seen people talk about: Dayton Audio SPA250DSP. It listed as 250W but from watching some testing reviews, the 250W appears to be conservative.
Does anyone have advice or recommendations?

If you don't want to spend a lot, it's hard to beat the Dayton Audio Sub-1200. If you're patient, you can snag an open box or restocked unit for under 100.00Thanks for the advice everyone. With little kids, I wasn't to keen on spending money on a better sub, but maybe I'll just go without one for awhile. And thanks for the info on the Infinity's. I'll have to keep an eye on their site.
My laptop broken and I got no job to get it fixed , if you can afford that good of a new pc I’d save up for a quality sub ... bass quality will be a lot easier on your ears .. maybe rhythmic or one of popular brands .Any specific recommendations? I’d say you don’t have to force yourself to suffer with poor quality bass , but if it breaks your budget spending $2k isn’t reasonable . Especially if you don’t need that high of output .Just to be clear, I could go out tomorrow and buy a $2000 sub if I wanted to. But that's not proper financial planning. I budget my electronic purchases. Typically build a PC every 4-5 years. When I want a new TV, I plan a year in advance. I have never had an issue with sound quality from the Polk. The thing with audio, is everyones ear processes sound differently. I listened and played around with a bunch before buying the one I got. And lastly, I was looking to repurpose the existing driver and enclosure instead of contributing more e-waste.
To the people who provided sound recommendations (no pun intended), thanks a bunch. I don't post a lot on this site but usually come here when I'm looking for answers.
