I have to older(10 years or so) Ensemble subs with red/black speaker wire posts. I just bought a Yamaha v465 5.1 receiver, and it has a(1) sub pre out jack. Is there a way to hook the subs to the receiver?
Get an rca y splitter and plug into your reciever then get 2 rca to standard red and black ends and your good to go. You can get it all at www.monoprice.com
it's passive. No power chord, just a red and black post on each speaker. I tried looking for rca to banana plugs, and had no luck finding anything like that either.
Then you'll need an amp. The RCA from the receiver will plug into the amp and then you'll use speaker wire from the amp to the sub. There are probably power ratings on the sub somewhere to give you an idea how powerfull an amp to buy.
