Seems the first time my sub gets an LFE signal it makes an annoying loud noise, like a knock, then it's fine. But then, if it's idle for a while, it pops again when it gets another LFE. The timeout seems to be at least 10min or so to cause it to pop again. I'm using an Denon 2310C Receiver and a the sub is an Artisan RCC 600 in wall unit powered by a Dayton 1000a sub amp.

Has anyone run into this?

It is quite common. Some people just switch their subwoofer amp to the "ON" position instead of the "AUTO" position. If it bothers you to think of the subwoofer amp always on, then you can get a "Green" power strip like this

You then plug the receiver into the master outlet on the power strip, and then plug the subwoofer amp into one of the slave outlets on the strip, set the sub amp as constantly on and the sub amp will only be on when the receiver is on, and will turn off when the receiver is off.

Thanks superedge88. I'll try switching the amp from standby to on. If it works I'll look into getting a strip too (or just leave it on all the time).

Another thing I though of was to not use LFE and instead use the regular inputs. Then I'd get added base response from the main speaks (also artisans mounted to the tv). Then the amp would be getting a signal any time the main speaks are getting signal. Might lose a little in LFE impact, but that's probably not a huge deal for this particular application which is mostly tv/music vid watching and only the occasional movie.

Cheers!
