sub recommendations

I'm considering buying either the Sony SAWM500 12" or the Velodyne VX-10. I have a medium sized living room. I don't really need a sub with a lot of volume, I am much more interested in clean bass with good frequency response. I have heard the Sony in person, but it was at a Best Buy and there was lots of background noise. I haven't found any local stores where I can audition the Velodyne.

I'd like to spend less than $200 if possible. Can anyone give recommendations on either of these two subs? Thanks.

I have the Velodyne CT-120 that I bought from Audiogon for ~$300 about 1.5 years ago. To my untrained ear it sounds great, very smooth in music (not too punchy) and goes quite deep for movies. I'd look into the CT-100, which is the 10" version....there is one on Audiogon right now for right at $200.
