What does this thing do? I got this knob on the back of my DSP-3200 subwoofer. Should I just leave it to the minimum setting and forget it all together? Does this thing delay the sub response or something. I read it aligns your subwoofer with your front speakers but how?

Time aligning your sub with the mains is covered by the AVR's delay settings. So you only need to make sure your sub is in phase with the main speakers. Usually that's 0-deg. And if your AVR has automatic room EQ, it will confirm the 0 setting is correct or not.

If you have no room EQ, there are ways to check the polarity using test signals.
