subwoofer as part of TV stand?

Hi,

Would it be ok to use a Def Tech Super Cube 1 subwoofer as part of a TV stand? I'm concerned about two things:

- not magnetically sheilded

- might vibrate the TV too much

Current the stand has small wooden posts behind the wheels to support the center of the TV. This is where I'm considering putting the Super Cube. TV is 60" Sony LCD projection. Only about 3/8" of glass would seperate the Super cube and bottom of the TV. Picture below.

No problem? Bad idea?

It wont hurt the sub but it might hurt everything on the sub.

Sounds like a novel idea. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe CRT is the only display affected by magnetic fields.
Right. They mean nothing to an LCD.
Just the vibrating screen will probably be annoying and reak havoc on your DVD player.

I am also considering the same set-up for my plasma, because I do not have any other place for my new Sub. In a previous apartment, I had my TV (a 27" CRT) positioned on a piece of wood that was sitting on my sub for a while. I did not have any problems with the arrangement, except that it meant that the sub was not in the ideal place in the room for smooth bass response. I did not notice any vibrations to the TV. BUt I assume it depends on the sub and the TV. The TV was fairly heavy, and the sub was a REL strata, which is not designed to be a HT monster, and I don't feel it vibrate with the sound at a normal volume.
Thanks for the tips - I think I'll determine the placement based on the best sound and not convience. There are other spots to put it without it being too obtrusive.
