HSU rates it's subs two ways, like this:

Frequency Response Bass extension +/- 1 dB(maxiumum extension mode)

18 Hz, +/- 1 dB

Frequency Response (maxiumum output mode)

25Hz

---------------------------

I'm more used to seeing something like: Frequency Response, 25Hz - 200 Hz +/- 3db.

Could someone explain:

1. What the two different HSU ratings mean?

2. How they compare to the more standard frequency response I mentioned.

Thanks for your help.

Typically what Hsu is telling you is that the sub in max extension mode(1 port plugged) will extend down to 18Hz and in max output mode (both ports open) it will extend to 25Hz.

Max extension mode (1 port plugged) will extend lower but not play as loud. Max output mode (both ports open) will play louder but not extend as deep. You get to chose, do you want it really low or really loud.
