Did this mod a few years ago and still like it. After moving into this house I converted the wood fireplace to gas. However, there was an empty box to the left of the fireplace you typically stored wood in. So what do do with that area after the gas install, since I didn't need a wood storage area anymore? Put a sub in there of course.

"The deader, the better", looks good and innovative, but if I was in a condo in Vail with a hottie I would choose the fireplace.

LOL!

You don't even have to put wood in the fireplace before lighting it up! ;)

So many advantages...

Great idea though!

Excellent idea. I must say that in 25 years as a chimney sweep, this is the first sub in the fireplace. In a related note, I made two subwoofers out of inch and a half thick 24" X 24" terra cotta flue liner sections - talk about mass!!
