Hello, I have a 70" inch long TV cabinet that doesn't leave me too many choices in terms of sub placement. If I place it next to the stand, would it sound weird far away from the TV? Should I place it in front of the TV and the cabinet? If I just leave the sub flat on the floor, I am afraid it will disturb the neighbor downstairs. Can I put a rug underneath it to absorb the vibration? Will that affect the sound and heat ventilation?

How far away you can place it will depend, in part, on the crossover frequency. As for the rug, it will make no real difference in terms of sound transmission through the floor.

A subdude or gramma will help with sound transmission through the floor. Decoupling the sub from flexible flooring also has acoustic benefits in your listening space as well.

As far as sub placement goes if you cross it over at 80 hz or below ir shouldn't matter if the sub is behind you as long as it's set up properly and not overdriven.
