There is a thread about budget subwoofers in the $300 range in this forum.
+1. HSU is, imo, the best option for anyone who needs a sub for less than $500.Quote:

What's a good subwoofer under $150?
Because it's a good subwoofer for under $150. Should there be less praise for it?Quote:
Why so much praise for this subwoofer.

I have Aperion Verus Grand bookshelves and am looking for a subwoofer to go with them. I would like to stay under or around 300 new or used unless it means a huge jump in quality . I will be using it in my bedroom and won't ever be able to turn it up very loud, just enough to be heard and balance out the sound nicely. Would an 8" be ok for this or should I go 10? I will be using it for home theater and music (jazz, acoustic, some rock and electronic) It doesnt need no be able to thump super loud, just want something accurate and musical. Thanks, Keith
Two good ID subs would likely be much better than the six Cerwin Vega's you are using. The 10" Cerwin Vega I see on their website only goes to 32 Hz. If you need six subs, your subs are not good enough.Quote:

10" Cerwin Vega's are the best sub you will find because I have alot of experience with speakers. For my theater room I have 82" 3D HDTV , two 8 subs ". two 12" subs, one powered 10" Sub and 1 powered 15" Sub, for the highs I have eight 6" speakers and 12 4" speakers. Theater rooms need to feel like theaters. I wouldn't make my bed room as a theater room, I would just make it into a room with surround sound but no subs. I have a second room that I have a 58" LED 3D with 4 twelve inch subs, a powered 10" sub, and 6 6" and 8 4" highs and four 2/1 inch highs. then in the living room 4 12", one 10 inch sub, and six 6" high and 8 4 " highs. All of my big speakers and subs are Cerwin Vegas and a center channel in the Theater room is a Cerwin Vegas and in Infinity speakers. I found for the best deep sound is Cerwin Vega's and the best highs are infinity.speakers. I hope this helped. Take Care
