Please suggest me a good Nas to connect my TVIX m6500a (in one room) and PCH-A110 (in other) with under $200. I also want low power consumption (or sleep mode when not in use) and the USB port option in it to transfer my files quickly from computer.

any suggestions??thanks in advance


and gigabit port will be a plus but not that important??

I use a DNS-323. It doesn't have usb file support although there might be a hack for that. It does have gigabit though. I bought it because of all the mods for it (got mediatomb running on it instead of the default upnp, lighthttpd for yamj to be browsed from PC, etc)


The mods are really nice if you know how to mess around with *nix

I use the WDTV Live with a 2 TB/NTFS drive. I share files with my PCs, laptop, and Asus OPlay. Everynight I copy new and changed files to a backup drive on my PC just incase the USB drive goes bad.

i need something with usb support as well to connect to PC for faster file transfers



edit: I found out about Buffalo drivestation Flexnet with usb and nas support but reviews says its network speeds are slow..is there any other???

The computer guys here at work tell me that the readynas (netgear) are good ones. They are recommending the Readynas duo for me as I am just getting into the streaming thing...

sub $200.00 won't get you much, maybe a 1 drive unit. If you already have some drives to add to it you could get a diskless 2 bay unit perhaps. The Intel SS4200-E might be a good option if that's the case:
