I am trying to replace my HTIB to something better.

I am looking for 5.1/7.1 speaker system for less that 2000$.

My room dimensions are like 22*22 and i have cathedral ceiling.

I was thinking of more of a 2 Front towers and Bookshelf surrounds.

I have ordered the Denon 2310 receiver

Personally would like the black or the wood veneer finish. Liked the Definitive, Energy and the Aperion speaker ranges. Any advice over this will be greatly appreciated.

There are lots of options. $2000 is pretty easy to do, even if that includes a sub (you didn't specify so I wasn't sure). Have you been able to listen to any particular speakers yet? If so, do you prefer a warmer, brighter, or more neutral sound?

For a good deal on 5.1 systems with tower fronts, check out Axiom Audio , SVS (look at their new STS towers ), and Elemental Designs .

Some bookshelf speakers and mini-towers are powerful enough to do just as well as full-range towers, if you are using subwoofers (which you would want to anyway). For great examples for packages of these, check out Ascend Acoustics , HSU Research , and Emotiva Audio .

Ascend and Emotiva do not make subwoofers though. For manufacturers who make great subs, check out Rythmik , Epik , and Outlaw .

If I were you, I would use 50% for speakers and 50% subs. You can get good, inexpensive, high-efficiency speakers that will sound great in your room and be comparable to more expensive speakers, but you can not go cheap on the subs and hope to achieve the same sound. Especially in a larger room such as yours.

In a room such as yours, I would want two good subwoofers. To get the most of your money there, I would work out a deal with SVS, HSU, or Elemental Designs for a package for two subwoofers for $2K. With SVS, you might be able to get two PB12s with a STS speaker system for that much money. With HSU, try to get their enthusiast package 3, but replace two of the HB speakers with another VTF3 subwoofer. I think they would cut that deal for $2K. With Elemental Designs, get A6 6T6 tower fronts and a A6 center with A3 5TC bookshelf rears, and try to get either two A5 350 subwoofers or two A7S 450 Subwoofers. They might swing that for $2K. If you do any of those you will end up with a massive system for your money.

You can mix subs and speakers just fine. It's best to keep all the 5.0 speakers the same though, but a good subwoofer will integrate well with any speaker system. If you stretch your budget a bit, you might be able to get the "affordable audiophile package" from SVS with not just one, but two PB12 or PC12 subwoofers. That would be a monster system for the money. If that is over your budget, you can get that sort of system from HSU or Elemental Designs. I wouldn't settle for just one subwoofer on your budget, especially with a room as large as yours.

Quick recommendation for Aperion . Free shipping both ways, 30 day in-home trial, excellent customer service, and a damn good product if I do say so myself. You can get a great 5.1 with sub for under $2k. Only downside is that your room is rather large. With your size room, that budget might be better served to go 3.1 to start, so you can get larger towers to start, then add surrounds later. Either way, you'd have 30 days to decide if you wanted something different.

Just my $0.02.

thanks for the replies, i was thinkin of going for the SVS sub SB12-plus and just get a Fronts, Left and center for now my budget now and add the rears later. I suppose you are right about the 2 subs for the my room due to size of it, i was thinking if i should go with front towers which have subs contained in them like the Definitives BP 7004 and keep the SVS sub on the back of the room

Unless space is a constraint, I would recommend the PB12's over the SB12's. They will have a lot more output. One SB12 might just completely disappear in your room, but a PB12 has much less of a chance doing so. Two PB12's are sure to make their presence known. Towers with built in subs will help, you can lower the crossover on your sub. I don't believe those definitive towers can really dig down to 16 hertz with any authority as they claim, if they can then you have no need for subwoofers at all. If you only go with one sub, I would look at stuff from Elemental Designs or Epik . I think they would be more powerful than the SB12 or PB12, but not cost a whole lot more money.

shady, i recently bought the Denon 2310 reciever and can connect only 1 subs has it is 7.1, so i will have to look into the option of buying a single sub woofer only

You can use an RCA "Y" splitter and connect two subs.

Y cable that can be one option, i guess wont be going with the BP 7004 as the font i suppose and the center is too bulky and wife is really against it.

Looking at the Mythos One instead for the fronts, how do you guys think that will go with the SVS subs?
