My current setup:

Front: 2 Klipsch RF-62

Back: 2 Klipsch RS-62

Center: Klipsch RC-35

Sub: Velodyne VRP1000

TV: LG 42LB5D (42" 1080p)

Receiver: Onkyo TX-SR706

Also: Harmony 880, PS3, Windows 7 PC, FiOS cable box

I would like something that will upscale component inputs to 1080p. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks.

Your PS3 and FIOS box are HDMI devices. You really dont need a receiver that upscales to 1080p because your TV will automatically do that. PS3 already sends out as 1080p. Are you connecting your PC via component?

That being said most mid level AVRs will do that if you want. What's your price range? You forgot that important info.

I have a few other devices I would like to connect via component. The 706 only upscales HDMI to 1080p -- not component.

Price range is flexible. I am happy to spend, provided it is not overkill given the rest of the setup. Upgrades in other areas besides video upscaling would certainly be welcome too.

Thanks.

As someone already pointed out, your LG display can do the upscaling, but if you want the receiver to do it, take a look at the Denon 1910/790. It has Audyssey MultEQ which you're used to with the Onkyo and it includes the ABT video chip.

Reliable, few problems if any, Yamaha RX-V3900 or RZ-7.

Cheers

I just realized my current receiver is a 705, not 706.

I would rather connect component to the receiver than the TV for the sake of simplicity (having one HDMI cable fished through the wall is a lot easier to manage) and the Onkyo seems to be on its way out (audio skips a lot and LCD display gets acts very strangely).

Thanks for the suggestions.

How does Denon 1910/790 compare to my Onkyo? It seems a step down in price. Does it scale component to HD (I don't care whether it's 1080p or not, but something better than my Onkyo at 480p for component).

Is the RX-V3900 overkill considering the rest of my setup?

Your c urrent Onkyo does 720p with component in/HDMI out. I have the 805 and it does a fine job with my Wii, IMO. Any analog video input can be sent out through HDMI.

If your 705 is broken I would go with the Denon 1910. Power should be about the same and you will pick up a few new features like Volume Control.

Any downside to the 1910 versus my 705? If I went with a higher end option, what would be a good choice to go with before I really hit diminishing returns given the rest of my setup?

Thanks.
