my 27" Norcent recently died after only 9 months,

I think the powersupply or something went and it won't turn on any more

anyways it seems like their warranty is shady so I'm not too hopefully about the repair

I'm looking for a replacement, since this is just for my bedroom so it doesn't have to be a super dooper set

so far I've come across the Insignia NS-27LCD that's in the price range I like to spend, I like the fact that it has a built in HD tuner

are there other sets in the simular price range with the same features?

thanks

I just got an Olevia 532H about 3 weeks ago.

The original reason for purchasing it was just as a backup TV to play Xbox 360 on (for when the fiance kicked me out of the living room).

After using this TV for almost a month now, I've decided to move it in to the bedroom.

This leaves me with the dilema of deciding if I should buy another one for it's original purpose now.

Absolutely love it though

I kinda had a similar budget/size in mind when I bought in early December. I ended up with the 32" Visco from WM.com, but it wasn't on the shelf to see the PQ...pretty sure it's clone is the Polaroid @ Target but $3-400 more expensive though.

Turns out the ATSC is also QAM as I do get my Local HD over SD cable. The digital SD & HD look terrific while the analog (NTSC) is only acceptable.

Mounting wasn't too difficult, but the average bracket for a mid-size panel was 1/4 the cost of the set itself.

The sound does require the use of the audio out to an external amp & speakers or 2.1 PC speakers at a minimum.

32" - $600

37" - $800

have you gotten anywhere with Norcent? I too am getting no reply from Norcent despite submitting a RMA form for a defective set. My set's been broken (LT-2722,no power) now for several months. I've sent emails thru their site and directly to the techs via my account, absolutely no response. From all the time that's transpired my set is now out of warranty (it seems they may have wanted that to happen) though I have all the dates documented and bought it on a charge that doubled their warranty. I was so disgusted I took a holiday break from pursuing but am now ready to began the BBB complaint etc... If anyone can help, please do. Thanks

i have been running an olevia 332h for a week now and am very happy with it. paid 649 at newegg, no tax no shipping. i did switch from hdmi cable to component and am getting better reception on SD, hd is excellant as it was through hdmi cable. running audio through receiver so lack of remote codes for olevia is not an issue.

I'm very happy with the 26" Mintek LCD with integrated DVD I got at Costco for $599. It has ATSC and QAM tuners and the picture is excellent for both HD and SD. Combine all that with Costco's return policy if anything goes wrong and it's a really great deal.

I am also happy with my Mintek 37" which I got from QVC back in December. Given the price and the built-in upconverting DVD player and my lack of major issues I will be keeping it. Since i bought before xmas i have until 1/31/07 to return it.

It has a couple of minor issues. I have been unable to get the built in DVD to display older movies (pre widescreen era) in 4x3 format. The remote isn't the best in the world.

I can pull in all the local OTA HD/digital channels channels. The SD over the air channels are not great by why would I need to watch those when with the exception of the local station out of Windsor Ontario everything else is on the digital feed now.

I will be hooking up a progressive scan DVD player later this week just for comparison and reconnecting my SD DISH receiver.

I have a Olevia 232V and IF you properly calibrate and tweak the settings, it has a sensational picture. It is often found on sale under $600. I would definitely recommend this set and would put it up against any of the big name LCD's. But again, it HAS to be properly calibrated or it will look like crap. It does not have good picture settings out of the box.

I would avoid trying to duplicate anyone's settings. What you really want to attach a DVD player through the RGB connections and use Digital Video Essentials or such to set the brightness, contrast, sharpness, color and tint. The one observation I will make is that when adjusted my new 327v tonight with that DVD, the sharpness had to be turned all of the way down to avoid edge artifacts. The set looks great now. By the way, if the original poster is still interested in a 27 inch set for space constraints, the Olevia 327v can be picked up for around $400 these days. Not bad.

I also have that model, bought it March of '06 and still going strong. Fortunately, I bought it with a 3 year warrenty from 6ave electronics. Have you gotten anywhere with Norcent? I barely see any info at all from that company.
