I bought a Samsung DVD player a liitle while back which has DVI hook up. I recently got a Hughes hi def satalite receviver which also has the ability to use DVI. My Hitachi 65" rear projection TV has only one DVI input. So, what would be better to use the DVI for my dvd player which I use on the weekends or my TV for the hi-def programing. So, TV... component or DVI? or DVD player component or DVI. Looking for opinions.

Thanks

Also, if the DVI is HDCP compliant, you'll need to use it if/when they start running blocking schemes that check for it. For now, DVD does not have that issue and component video is fine for 480p DVD usage.

If your tv has an HDMI input you can get a DVI to HDMI cable. This would free up your DVI input. I'm told the only difference between DVI and HDMI is that HDMI carries the audio signal also. The PQ between the two should be the same. I have a DVD player and HD-STB hooked up this way. both digital connections!
