In a new construction project, I've been able to set aside a 6'x3' room for a wire closet. I never seen a residential wire-closet, I've only worked on them in office settings (with drop ceilings or false floors) and a few questions came up.
- I understand the wire-drop/jack end of the cable run, I'm comfortable installing jacks and terminating connectors. But what do people do for the closet end? How does the wire enter the closet? A big gaping hole in the wall doesn't seem like it would be up to code.
- What sort of rack equipment does everyone use? Again, I'm used to tall, floor mounted setups. What options are there for wall mounting? Do people tend to do the "slap up the plywood" method in residential?
Thanks for the advice
