I've owned a Sony 1030 for over a year now and I'm getting antsy for something better. Mine is one of the older serial #s that won't do line doubling. Anyways, I was hoping to get some suggestions from the group on projectors I could pick up for under $1000 that would blow me away (considering I'm used to a 1030 that shouldn't be too hard). Some have mentioned the Sony 1272, is that one any good?

I had a 1272, and it was great. $1000.00 number depends on where you buy. Fleabay has 'em for under a grand, but be CAREFUL, and do your homework!!.

Otherwise, save a bit more and go to an EM focus set like the NEC PG. But I don't think you'll get one (NEC) in good shape for $1K. They're usually $1500.00 or so. The 12XX series is a really good bet.
