This information maybe old news but just incase it is not this is what I was told by Sunfire yesterday.

Their Theater Grand II has been released and owners of the Theater I can upgrade to the new Theater II. Now this is not a upgrade like other manufactors (i.e. Theta, Krell, Proceed, etc.) it's a replacement. Not a upgrade to your old Theater Grand, but a completely new replacement. You send them your Theater Grand, in resellable condition, with remote, manual, etc., and $1,000 + $25 (shipping) and they will send you a new Theater Grand II. It's nice to see a manufactor doing something like this for it's customers.

Thought you would like to know.

BTW: The offer is good for one year.

When I talked to Sunfire I asked for any documentation and he said it wasn't available yet. I have read a review of the Theater Grand II on www.audiorevolution.com. What I know is, new 24/96 DACs, more s-video inputs, one more digital input, new remote, and improved bass management control. The bass management control will be futher improved in July with new software. I hope someone will come out with a detail review in the next few months.

Just wondering if anyone has seen a review of the TG II yet?

Oops, just found the Audiorevolution review.

Thanks,

Doug

I currently own a Theater Grand Sunfire I. I am generally pleased with its performance, sound, etc. I am considering the upgrade to the Sunfire II or another surround processor. One thing bothers me about the Sunfire system and that's the fact neither it nor the Sunfire Theater Grand II is THX rated. I talked to the people at Sunfire regarding the lack of a THX rating. They explained that the reason they are not THX rated is they did not want to pay the additional cost to have the system rated THX. Is there validity to this explanation or is it just a "smokescreen" answer. Any comments regarding this would be appreciated.
