If Memory Serves (my memory is not to good these days on some things
) I think the Superbit is a sony thing so that might answer that question if I am right.

Since I'm a HD DVD guy I can't get Spider-Man 1 or 2 on HD DVD

But I can get the superbit versions! lol. I wonder how those will look upscaled

They sold pretty poorly. Any that are left are now ten bucks or less at BB. I have a few of them. Some of them don't even use the whole disk or max bit rate of DVD.
I did a good search and apparently it depended on the movie

Some movies only had a 24% increase in Bitrate, and some had a 108% increase in bitrate

In January 2007, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has discontinued its Superbit line in order to promote its Blu-ray Disc format.

I loved them. They were as good quality as some of the BD movies I've seen upconverted on the A1.

I still have all of my superbit movies because of this.

I have Spiderman I & 2, Underworld...etc.

Because they know that upconverted on an HD DVD player, it looked as good as BD movies. I know, I have about 25 of them.
Yep it was a sony thing.

Like said they sold poor. Mostly becase they were, for the most part, 1.5-2x more then the 2 disc SE versions.

Many looked very good but once dvd started doing HD transfers anf such the was no need for the SB versions.

BB had a 9.99/disc sale for awhile I picked up a few then.

The fifth element is a must have. Better then the current BD.

Spiderman 2 SB vs the 2disc SE were very close.

That's when I bought mine.

The DTS sound tracks were nothing to scoff at.

Some of the tier 4 HD DVDs or Blu-Rays? It wouldn't surprise me if a upconverted DVD could match it.

The one where upconverted SD never holds a candle to real High Definition.
