From the good folks at USA Today. A mixture of facts and fallacies, but the trend is unmistakable. People en masse are buying displays to see the Superbowl in Hi-Def. That's gotta be good news.

>>A 50-inch plasma TV can cost $9,000 depending on the brand, while a 52-inch LCD is in the $3,500 range and a 52-inch projection TV is around $1,300.

"This is the trend we've seen all year. Everyone wants plasma, but the LCD is in the sweet spot of what they can and want to spend," says Bill Cimino of Circuit City.

"With the emergence of high-definition movie and sports broadcasts, it is easy to understand why so many consumers are excited," adds Daniel Hodgson, head of business development at catalog and online retailer Crutchfield, which has seen a "fantastic increase in TV sales this month."

I read over one 1.5 million HD displays will be sold.

Some retailers are calling it "The 2nd XMAS."

Who knew?!!

Cheers, VB
