Where can I find the updated Superman Returns Blu-Ray disc with the 5.1 TrueHD and PCM tracks in the United States? I have checked a few Best Buys around here and they only have the old version with plain Jane DD 5.1.

Thanks!!!!

No, I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that it's going to be re-released with a Dolby TrueHD track on Blu-ray.

Meaning, it is not out now. No official announcement either.
The rumor is that once stock is gone, it will mutate into the updated TrueHD/PCM release. (With the lackluster sales of any HD format and less than stellar reception of Superman Returns, it might be a while.)

Do note the current release with 640Kbps Dolby Digital audio is still impressive, even if you don't like the movie. (Yes, even compared to the current HD DVD release that has Lossless.)
Ok, so besides the limited release with the Pioneer player in the US, does the Japanese or European version have the PCM and/or TrueHD track(s)?
Warner is releasing Superman Returns on HD DVD again as a non-combo soon. So it's likely that they'll probably ship the True HD version of Blu-ray as well with the same shipment. It will be then up to you to sort through the copies to find the updated version - as people did with the 5th element.

But the new version of the 5th Element was sold specifically as The "Remastered" version with a different stock #.

As far as I know they've only announced a HD-DVD version. Since the Combo version already has TrueHD it is not a new mastering but a new pressing.

I doubt with Blu-Ray's sales (they both SUCK in sales) they are going to remaster this. This is WARNER
Tech specs of Japan BD version are the same as U.S.

The Non-combo HD DVD release has True HD track in Japanese and DD+ track in English.

Okay guys, I found it at my local Best Buy (Milford, MA). I was looking through BD's and I saw a stack of like 5 copies of the movie. Flipped them over, and to my surprise found the TrueHD/PCM version in 1 of the 5. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics, its all I could take. My moto phone has a crappy camera compared to the sammy phone I had before.

Since the text is so blurry on the back pic, it says Dolby TrueHD: English 5.1, PCM: English 5.1.

Btw I didn't buy it so if anyone in the area is interested, go find it!

That is great news Patsfan!

I may have to stop by Best Buy tomorrow. I've been holding out for the TrueHD version. I'm surprised no major announcement has been made about this.
The 640Kbps DD track is probably the best I've heard. I use to own the HD DVD but had problems with one chapter, it was the combo disc. I bought the Blu-ray instead and than about 4 months later Warner announces a non-combo disc. I always look when I'm in Best Buy to see if the TrueHD version shows up but like others posted, that DD track isn't to shabby.
Patsfan, thanks for the pics. I was beginning to think it was only a rumour. I've been wanting to get this for a while now considering the price has gone down for it much (probably to get rid of old stock). I'll check this title out now whenever I'm in stores.

I live in the area but regardless of how much I want it, no way am I paying Best Buy $30 for the TrueHD version. I'll wait for the TrueHD version to proliferate and then just replace my old version when it's on sale at a more reasonable price.
And so it has come to pass. Nice news.
I'm not saying I doubt the veracity of this - just wanted to point out that there have been reports of users finding non-combo-disc versions of 300 on HD DVD at Best Buy as well (which only come with the Toshiba players).

It's possible (not at all certain) that this may have come from a display model Pioneer player that made it's way to the sales floor. (That is, unless the copy included with the Pioneer had a different / modified UPC.)
Good news! Now I know my compulsive checking of every Superman Returns BD I see is not in vain! I will keep doing so...

Can't wait to dump the combo.
