Didn't really see the answers I was looking for in other threads so here I go. I'm looking for a decent surge protector/supressor for some of my HT equipment. First off I live in an apartment, second, looking in the $40 range if that's possible. Looking at probably something not too big either, 6-outlet probably will do, will use it for pio 5020, onkyo 806, and pio 51fd. The game consoles and other items will stay on a current cheapo surge strip I already have.

Saw a Philips surge protector with line noise filter at walmart but don't really have any idea if its worth the price, what's out there that's better for similar pricing.

Thanks.

At that price you get what you pay for and there isn't much difference in performance between brands at that price.

Big difference. The Panamax does not have signal protection lines and it is more expensive. The Tripplite is adequate protection for most systems. Just be sure to use the signal line protection and verify that the grounding is correctly installed, clean, and tight on all lines entering your home.

So the tripp lite should do me well then? or are there other models/brands I should also consider in this price bracket? You mentioned it has signal line protection, are you refering to the coaxial and phone line protection? Thanks.

That seems like a good price. The more expensive Panamax with signal line protection and over/under voltage protection can be found for about $80. I use some of the cyberpower units that are similar to the Tripp but a little less expensive.
