I understand what a 7.1 system is with surround back speakers. However, I am lost as to what Denon has with Surround A and Surround B on some of their receivers.

I am finishing my basment and looking for a good receiver for a 7.1 system but should I be adding two additional surround speakers? What is the benefit?

Thanks in advance for any help.

The "B" surrounds are intended typically for either larger rooms, or perhaps those that get poor coverage from just their "A" surrounds. Or for those who have an extra set of speakers kicking around! Bear in mind there are not enough built-in amps to cover A and B surrounds as well as backs.
