Surround Freq's??

How low should rear surrounds go in a 5.1 setup? Is 70 low enough or should I go with the next step up that claim to go to 55?

That depends on what crossover point you are planning on using for your sub. If the speaker is fairly flat down to 70hz and you like the way it sounds, they would work great with a sub crossed over at 80hz.
I would say that, since bass below 80 hz is not directional, and there are very few bass effects in the rear channels, that would require localizibility (I can't think of any!), then I would go with whichever one I found more pleasent to listen to.

Go for the one that plays lowest if you are listening to music as a major component of his system though, I find it very distracting to hear a string bass go from besides me to the sub, not only can I somewhat tell where it is moving, my subwoofer sounds much different than my surrounds.
