I just got done setting up my second refurbished HK 3650(1st one didn't work, 2 weeks later here I am) Tired and ready for bed here is my question I could use some help with.

My surround speaker makes an almost fire alarm chirp at random, it may be late but sometimes it seems to chirp as I'm working the AVR remote, but also does it when I'm not working the remote. With volumes at a minimal due to sleeping child, the chirp has my right ear bleeding after 1 hour of listening.

I haven't had the time to switch the surround left with the surround right to see if the chirp follows, but when I turn the level all the way down to that channel I can still here the chirp(a little softer).

I will swap speakers tomorrow sometime, no speaker connections have changed since my HK354 ran everything just fine(the speakers are ran through the wall), just thought I would swap out HK AVR's and would be smooth.....ughhhhh!

I'll check back in the morning to see if anyone has any advise. Thanks in advance.

Definitely an AVR problem...

Thats why refurbs are customer returns, something is often wrong with the product.

Unfortunately the brands when rechecking the returns just power it up, connect speakers and if it works they pack it up as a refurb..

Tell HK U want a new one...

I hope HK is paying the return freight charges.....

Just my $0.05... 👍😉

Yes M Code, they have paid for shipping on my replacement, waiting for instructions for this one. I turned it on yesterday and the audio came through like a scambled phone call. Then this morning I turned it on and it had audio but no video to the TV. Hopefully the 3rd time is a charm.

Just wanted to say thanks for the post, I read through all the pages of the 3650 thread and the 3700 and your knowledge on HK and AVR's was very helpful(and for the most part over my head), but helped explain some questions I had. Those threads are a long read when you start from page 1 and run through. Am I just having a rough run at the 3650 or am I better of going another route? Love the look and sound of a WORKING Harman Kardon!

You also said ask for a new one, Would they even still have a new 3650 in stock, I guess I will have to ask them.

Don't know if you have it enabled, but I've noticed this on some units when Dolby Volume is engaged.

Their website unfortunately only has the 3700, 2700, 2650, and 1710 available. I really like the look of the xx50's with the silver and black and the older volume nob. I paid almost $500 for the refurbished, would a new 2650 be that much of a down grade from the 3650. I'm only running 5.1, Klipsch rc-52ii, rb-51ii Fr/l, SS-1 Sr/l. Maybe a zone 2 this summer outside. No interest in 3D at all. I think the 2650 would push those just fine, I just prefer to buy big, instead of getting passed by. Any suggestions? Is the 3700 or 2700 that much better where I would be blown away by it and not care that it looks fugly compared to the xx50's. Sorry for the novel.

I really like the Dolby Volume option it is enabled, so this would be a kick in the pants also. If I could get picture to go with sound right now I would take a little time to trouble shoot trouble shoot
