I've had my heart set on buying the SVS 20-39PC but was just offered the Energy Take 5.2 system for a pretty good price.

Can I still match these two together or is that too much sub for those speakers? The room is medium-sized and the Take 5.2's will be driven by a Denon 1802 receiver (80WPC).

Whatever you do, don't mix the SVS and the Energy together. They have different spec's and response curves and can cause all kinds of poor bass response together. Most likely if you do, you'll get much worse bass than if you used either one separately.

As an aside, I personally think the SVS is a better sub and is worth the extra money. But your mileage may vary.

Actually, I guess I wasn't clear enough. I would only be using the Take 5.2's front, surround and center channels and using only the SVS sub for bass.

Have a look at the post "Calling Bay area SVS owners" - mdknapp sais that he paired SVS with the Take 5.2. I think he will give you the best advice.
