I read information a while ago on HTF that Ron and Tom are developing a whole suite of speakers....

They said they couldn't talk about it for about six weeks, but that was about six weeks ago :)

Anyone have any info??

KLee,

Really what we said was it was something we were looking into. We still are but it could be 6 YEARS before we have the time to really run much to ground. Sales of subwoofers have kept us so busy that really one more project (and main speakers is hardly just another project) would have us all gasping for air.

That's not to say we've forgotten about expanding the line, but I wouldn't hold my breath either. There are so many great speaker choices that we'd hate to think anyone was waiting on us to come out with something.

When/if "mains" come from SVS we'll make sure they're worthy of the SVS brand, can't say much more than that now!

SVS seems to be doing extremely well with their subs. Velodyne went from being very successful with their subs to trying to add full-range models. It may must be perception, but how often do you hear anything about Velodyne speakers other than subs? Yet it must cost an arm and a leg in terms of production and marketing. In today's market, I think leading successfully in a niche is probably a lot wiser than spreading too thin.

Another way to think about it is...

We were designing and building subs for several years before we had designs nailed so well, we were ready to *sell* them to more than just close friends.(even now, one of our subwoofer designs takes an average of 2 years to go from first proto-type to production model)

So if they same "business model" holds(factoring in the added complexity of working thru 10 octave instead of 3) if you see SVS introduce full range speakers in say 2 years...that is a good indicator we've been working on them for several years already.

This is just a fictional *what if* example of course...
