I feel like I have narrowed my selection down to these 2 in a 5.1 package. I have the old SVS Tower package in my living room and have no complaints about it. This is going to be going into a 13X10 room that already has my projector mounted. This will be 50% movies and 50% xbox playing. Can anyone help sway me in a certain direction?

What sub or subs are you going to be using?

If you're planning on running one or two really good subs you might want to think about the SVS bookshelf models instead if going for SVS.

For Klipsch there is no bookshelf model that has the same horn as the RF 7 so you'd have to get the tower.

IMO the RF7s will be a little more dynamic, most likely brighter and more efficient. The SVS Ultras will have more low end bass, which if you're running subs won't matter.

I like the klipsch sound. Have not heard the Ultras. They do get pretty good reviews.

I would think the SVS bookshelf model and matching center and surrounds would fit better in your room.

should I be looking at bookshelf speakers instead? What would be some good ones to look at for this same price range?

"If you like SVS, give them a try. In your small room they should be fine. 45 day in home trial.

What AVR/amp will you be using? Not that it makes that much difference, just curious.

There are so many speakers to choose from it comes down more to what you want, can get/demo etc...

Crutchfield gives 60 day trial period with free or $10 return shipping. They usually sell for list price though, but make up for some of that with free shipping and the lengthy trial period.

I like Klipsch (of course). A pair of RB81s, RC62 (if you can't fit a third RB81 vertical for a center) and a pair of RS52 or 62s would sound fantastic in that room.

Other than that I can't provide much other info.

I've never heard anyone say the RF7lls lacked bass.
