Buy Pomp & Pipes. Play Track 4. Sit in front of the SW-12. I wouldn't recommend the first 10-15 feet or so. The amount of air this sub puts out is ridiculous. At about 15 or so feet away, the SW-12 was moving pages in a book that was sitting on a couch (happened to be The Master Handbook of Acoustics). It's like sitting in front of a leaf blower. This sub never ceases to amaze me.

So what does this mean? It means the SW-12 can move a hell of a lot of air and Pomp & Pipes is a good demonstration/evaluation disc. Nothing more. However, from my experience, the SW-12 is able to produce musical bass like nothing I've ever heard before. It adds a dimension to the music and home theater experience that is very significant -- and this is on top of my Aerial Acoustics 10Ts. The bass in clean and tight and most importantly -- realistic.

Highly recommended piece of equipment. If you are in the market for a high-end subwoofer, audition the Aerial SW-12. I think this subwoofer offers pretty decent bang-for-your-buck, considering the price of the Krell, Wise, REL Studio, and Wilson XS -- subwoofers that are arguably the peers of the Aerial.

Regards, Mark
