Can I do better for....$500 a pair used(mint) from a friend?

I would love to get the Rocket 750's...but at $1400 I might not have the budget for them....

I did see some info on timbre matching problems with the C3 center...

Any info on the Swans would be helpful...

thanks

Joe

By the way,

I will be using a Denon 4802

60%-70% music

40% HT-Movies

Joe, I have the Diva 4.1's,C3 & R3's. I have been quite happy with this set-up. As far as timbre matching, while its not perfect its not that noticable as far as my ears are concerned. It probably doesn't help that my C3 sits inside a cabinet. I'm sure if you call the reps at theaudioinsider.com they can give you a lot more info on this. Good luck
The 5.1s would probably be more closely compared to the RS550s at $899/pr. But, $500 is a good price for the 5.1s. Also, FYI AV123 still has some of the Diva Dipoles on sale for $399/pr..

Yeah I did see the R3's at 123av....I am iterested in em, but I have now heard that the 5.1's were like the redheaded step child of the diva line.....didnt really match to well with the C3 & that the 4.1 or 6.1 sound better(ringing in the upper octaves).....anyone else have an opinion on the 5.1's?
I never heard any of the Diva line myself but I recall that discussion too when there was a lot fo talk about Diva. I think most buyers would either go for the 6.1 top of the line or they would sway the other way to the 4.1 to save money. I don't recall much talk about the 5.1s being mismatched or inferior to the other Divas. I'd say don't worry about it, if you like the sound, $500 is a great deal for some nice floor standers. If you like their 2 ch performance, buy a C3 and then some R3s. You'll have a nice setup for about half the cost of a similar Rocket package.
Dude,

If these speakers are really in mint condition it should be obvious what a good price $500.00 is. Take a look at other $500 speakers out there and see if any come close to the quality of the cabinets. The sound is certainly as good as other speakers in this price range and in my opinion it's superior. I use 5.1's as surrounds in my setup and I love them. If you find something you think might be comparable at this price please share it on this forum because I am unaware of anything that comes close.

Joe M.
Thanks.....I actually already pulled the trigger & bought them(didn't think I should wait too long or they might be gone)......as always, I second guess myself, maybe thinking I could get something better....always looking to get the best for my money.... this hobby(obsession) always has me thinking what if I sell this & buy this....etc

Thanks

Joe
You got a great deal, JOESMUD; congratulations!

The 5.1 has been a favorite ever since the original design program got fully under way in late 1999. I tuned the original "Diva" family and in my opinion, the 5.1 is a fine speaker with all the benefits of the simpler design.

The 5.1's "second" woofer is crossed out at a lower frequency so the 5.1 is basically a 2.1 but with doubled bass horsepower. In this regard there is no concern at all about compatibility with the other members of the Swan "Diva" line, and I can personally vouch the 5.1 has been designed and voiced to compliment them.

Since the 5.1 is a dual 6" two-way, you may wish to think of it as a more advanced 2.1, and since the 2.1 is very popular to this day, second in all time sales only behind the top of the line 6.1, the original 5.1 is (and was) a very successful design goal.

If you need a hand in any way, drop me a line at The Audio Insider.

Jon,

Thanks...I just picked the 5.1's up this morning & I am loving the sound of them....I cant believe how much clear tight bass(a slight bit thick) there is in these, for most music there is no need for a sub....I did notice the lower 6" moving a bit more than the top one.....but a very nice speaker......I was a bit nervous when someone over at HTF said they were the redheaded stepchild.....but they do sound great with a nice soundstage....although the main vocals sounds a tad bit farther back than the instruments & background singers....of course I am nit-picking really

If the rockets are that much better than I am gonna have to set up an audition to hear them, because these are some really nice speakers....

Well, I would like to thanks everyone who responded to my thread, it sure is nice to know if you have a question or concern about something....you just ask in the forums.....great people!!

Thanks

Joe

You're welcome Joe, and we're pleased to hear that you're as impressed as the other tens or hundreds of thousands of Swan users worldwide. Obviously they agree there's something special going on here...

Remember that there'd been a fair amount of confusion surrounding the "Diva" story, including perhaps the notion that the line had been discontinued, superceeded, or replaced. Nothing could be further from the truth -- and at TAI we're always happy to offer clarification.

Suffice to say the Swan story goes on and on and we're making big strides behind the scenes to bring forth the next very significant chapter in the line's impressive history. We look forward to serving any and all Swan and Diva owners for many years to come.

Funny...

I didn't see or hear any of *that* story here Jon... ;) Nor did you read it on the thread (like this one) over on the av123 forum... I can see no need for "further clarification(s)"...

I think that notion is all but dead... and like I've said before... we wish you GREAT luck in your future endeavors...

All the best...

Unfortunately there exists more than a few erroneous references to the demise of Diva ;) - including within the last week on this very Host at "Screens".

Obviously, pursuant that and in order to serve the brand, we'll keep patiently posting usable info for Diva and Swan users.
