Ill start of my stating my current system

Reciever: Onkyo SR-501

Centre Speaker: B&W LCR3

Surround: B&W DM303

Mains: Aaron Pro 9s

Sub: Velodyne 12inch (not sure on model number)

Thats my system at the moment. When people come over they seem to comment on how nice it sounds, and when i first got it i thought it sounded nice aswell. BUT, theres always a but. I have seemed to want more. This system just dosnt cut it anymore. Im looking to get an amp for my mains as i know that are being underpowered something chronic. This is what i was thinking of doing.

1. Rotel RMB 1066 amp which is rated for 6x60 RMS. I was going to bridge it and run my 2 mains and my center of it. 3x150w.

2. Rotel RSP 1066 preamp. I hear good things about this.

3. Run Onkyo in stereo mode where it puts out 2x100rms (rated by a ht mag) and run my surrounds of it.

I would like any comments on how you think this new system might sound, and if it is a good idea or not. I would also like if anyone knows of a similer setup but using different brands round about the same price range, as i am limited in budget.

Thanks a heap in advance

With some receivers, "stereo" mode will only out put a stereo signal. Is your Onkyo different? If you were using the Rotel 1066, does the Onkyo have amp inputs?

Obviously, the Rotel gear (pre/pro and amp) is a major step up from the receiver...
