okay guys need some help.....I purchased this inverter:

and I *think it's this battery...was the biggest they had for like 68 bucks or so

now, been using my battery tender since I bought to charge it up (and it still says its charging fwiw). but anyway, this morning I was going to try it out with the inverter and make sure everything is setup. So I installed terminals in inv. and then connected red clamps to +, then when I tried to hook up the black clamps, sparks.....I'm obviously ignorant in this regard so any input will be appreciated
