I came here today expecting to find a thread about this film already in progress. I'm surprised that no one has already chosen to comment on it.

I'm so glad I watched this movie. It is a rather unique way of conveying what war is.

Rather than go into detail I will just recommend the movie and then you can make of it what you will. All I'll say is the film moved me to tears for almost an hour.

IIRC there was a thread on this back in Feb/March of this year. I did a search but couldn't find it.

I have to admit that while I enjoyed the show, I was more than a little uncomfortable with how ready the writers were to over-use the emotional aspects of the story. A lot of cheap shots were taken, and without them the show would have been a lot shorter. It was basically the same scene played over and over for 90 min. Could have been a lot better.

That's the one (and it's a thread I started)
- I knew there was one somewhere.

I saw this movie one late night on HBO trying to get to sleep and go to bed. I should not have done it. Yet the price I paid in lack of sleep was worth it.

This movie has no special effects or any of the other bells and whistles we're all so use to seeing in movies now a days. I knew nothing other then it was Kevin Bacon and decided to watch. This movie was one of the best I've yet seen on war drama's in a while. Finding out at the end it was based on a true story I was amazed to see the amount of respect paid to this Marine and his escort. In a time where most people are only out for themselves, it brought me to tears that there are still people out there who care about people they have never even met.

No matter what your views are on war or the military, I urge you to watch this film, it's simply amazing.

Now out on DvD.

Just an amazing movie. My son and his friend who are on their way to becoming Marines suggested this to me. I was touched beyond words.

What an excellent movie, if you dont mind watery eyes, highly recommended that you put it in your queue.

This movie has no action, and not even any real conflict... its a pure drama, but very well done.

The DVD had superb video quality, and the audio quality was fine as well.

Let us also not forget Kevin Bacon won a Golden Globe best actor award for his role in "Taking Chance"

Grat to him!
