Well after exhaustive research and the help of this fine forum, I have decided to empty my pockets and purchase my first real system ever to celebrate my recent promotion. Here's the winning line-up:

Pio 1014 from JR - $399 delivered

Onix Rocket 550II Ultra HT package (550s, 200, 550s) - $1899

Onix XCD-88 CD Player - $199

SVS 20-39 PCi sub - $640 delivered OR SVS PB10ISD - $470 delivered

Total - $2970 or $3040 depending on the sub

Thoughts are welcome and I want to thank this awesome forum for helping me come to a decision.

Sounds like a nice setup. I'd go with the larger PCi if it were me. Let us know how it turns out.

Mike, you got some good deals on the receiver and speakers. If I have my facts straight, the Onix XCD-88 CD player, plays CDS only. I'm assuming either you're interested in music only, already have a DVD player, or have other plans for obtaining one.

As far as the sub goes, it depends on the cubic footage (W x L x H) of your space. When figuring cubic footage you should include any spaces that are contiguous to your room. For example, my room is 11.5 x 18 x 8 = 1656 cubic feet. But it opens into a 10 x 10 x 8 = 800 cubic feet, for a total of 2456 cubic feet. Either sub is a good choice. It just depends on the amount of air you need it to move.

Regardless, I hope, and believe, you'll enjoy your new toys, especially that center channel. The Bigfoot is a heck of a center.

Enjoy!

Thanks guys. I think I am going to go for the larger sub because my room also opens to the kitchen.

Can you recommend a quality CD/DVD player that won't break the bank? I have a DVD player but is it one of those $80 specials.

See if you can find a Zenith DVB-318 that upconverts to 1080i or 720p over component. I have one and have been very pleased with its performance and price.
