I have an Alteia+ satellite receiver at work that I'd like to update to be able to monitor HD with. The model we have is a P8R-942C. I believe this is the same unit as an Omni Digital SDR422CI from Standard Communications.


After extensive web browsing the only thing I could find about firmware revisions was from CVC (now GDMX) for an HD fix to allow reception of WBHD. This is software revision 2.8.6.4 however I'm unable to determine what revision is currently in the unit. My manual states 2.5 for the 942C. I can lock onto the cxr however the video fails (just like in the memorandum from theWB - second link)

I'd like to try their update procedure but don't want to screw up a $5000 receiver. Does anyone here have any experience?

It would be nice to be able to backup the current flash, but I'm assuming by the wording of their procedure it doesn't have this functionality.

Well, I flashed the receiver and am still having problems. Anyone have any experience with this receiver? Is it because I'm outputting to the analog video out? I do see digital artifacts and sometimes see the WB logo but the video always locks up. Perhaps you can only use the SPI-TSO output? I don't have a monitor capable of handling the SPI format.
