I want to connect 2 bookshelf speakers to an ipod in a spare room/"office". I'm debating whether I should get a cheap receiver off craigslist or get a TCA Gizmo 1.0M .

For some reason, there doesn't seem to be too many reviews of these things.
I really like the small form-factor - seems pretty much perfect to connect a pair of speakers to an ipod/laptop. My girlfriend always complains that there are too many buttons on the receiver/remote just to play some music.

Is there a reason the Gizmo 1.0's haven't taken off? Is there another alternative to this? I've googled some Sonic T-amps, but I can't seem a reputable dealer that still sells these.

Would I be better off going with a bulky receiver off craigslist than something small and simple such as the Gizmo? Are there better options out there? (I don't want to spend over $200 if I can help it.)

It's risk free, why not give it a chance? At that price you don't have too much to worry about anway.
