TCL's 2018 6-series TVs raise the bar on what to expect from an affordable 4K TV. Packed with features including Dolby Vision HDR, built-in Roku with voice search, and a new premium look that features a metal bezel, it's hard to believe what you get for $650 in a 55". However, if you're  a video enthusiast on a very tight budget, this weekend you can snag the AVS Forum "Top Choice 2017" winning TCL P6-series 55" (the direct predecessor to the 6-series) for only $499 ; it's the TV that set the bar for features and price-performance ratio in 2017.

The 2017 P6-series may not have the metal bezel of the 2018 model, and its specs are slightly more modest when it comes to local dimming zones plus peak brightness, but you truly can't beat what it offers for $500. You still get HDR including Dolby Vision. You still get Roku OS running the show, for notable ease-of-use and a huge streaming content selection. You also get one of the lowest latencies of any game mode you'll find on the TV.

This P6-series Roku TV from TCL has a 72-zone FALD (full array local dimming) backlight that makes for enhanced contrast and keeps letterbox bars dark when you're watching widescreen movies. It uses a VA (vertically aligned) LCD panel, which means it has somewhat limited viewing angles but very high native contrast when viewed head-on. So when you're sitting on your couch, it's going to look great.

Anyhow, the purpose of this post is to alert you to the $499 sale at Best Buy this Saturday , May 12. It's just in case you were looking for a great deal on a 55" TV that's equally awesome for gaming, watching movies, and catching your favorite TV shows or sports broadcasts. I've also posted it in Great Found Deals within the forum. Please note, if you follow the link before Saturday, the sale price will not be active.
