Hello All

While having a very basic understanding of all new technology in relation to Projectors etc... in comparison to others. Why are many of fellow members more concerned about the technical merits and specifications of technology and individual projectors?

I follow the forum to keep myself updated with whats new and up an coming. I am always accused from my wife that I and when I make reference to members of the forum. We are all too caught up with the technical specifications of everything. Why don't we all just sit down and watch or listen for our enjoyment the experience.

If you give your wife the idea that this forum is just a bunch of weenies comparing specs on spreadsheets you have the wrong idea. Most of us are pretty happy when we just sit down and listen or watch a movie. But on the other hand we are more than most usually aware of the limitations of the gear we are hearing/watching. Most folks are easily satisfied, some are always striving for more. A little like everything else in life don't you think. Have you ever participated in some of the car forums where someone spends big bucks on a Porsche, Ferrari or Corvette and then turns it over to a tuner shop to improve the performance ?

OTOH remember that HT is a relatively new endeaver, at least where reasonably priced projectors are concerned. It is often relatively difficult to actually see or hear new gear. Hence looking at the changes in specs is about all many enthusiasts have when looking to improve their experience. It's too bad as similarly to audio better specs don't always translate into more enjoyable performance. I've owned 2 top of the line Yamaha recievers that were virtually unlistenable when compared to several of my amps which had specs that were an order of magnitude worse from the standpoint of claimed specs.
