Howdy All,

I received a note from the TechTV folks that they are planning a segment on "The Screen Savers" about using ReplayTVs with DVArchive.

I think the show airs around 7PM EDT on TechTV, but as they say, check your local listings :)

I have a slow machine. The time creeping fix would be nice for

this system. I can't do multiple downloads without failure.

Got to correct the clock between downs.

Don't want to nag. But you did say soon. That was a bit

ago.

Of course the thread subject is dva on techtv. I don't get

it and would love to see how they mis-represent it's features.

I hope you had input on the content they will cover.

Heh ... well, he's done a ton of work for free ... rather than burden him with even the smallest amount of criticism on update schedules, I am just going to quietly be thankful he did at all -- did I also mention he does it for free? Maybe you should be grateful too ... since it is free and all that.

My bet is the do tell us the true features but tress the downfall of S.B. I heard them say that last week on a quick clip already of the downfall of S.B. Besides that issues it will be interesting how they put a negative spin on it since they seem to push Tivo units on many of their shows. I always tape that show but this time it will give me reason to watch it sooner.

Howdy,

Yep - I did say that. But a couple of things have been holding me up

1) A completel lack of time. Have a new office now and about 5 projects going on around the house a particularly large upswing in social engagements means just getting time to sleep in the last few weeks has been tough.

2) The clock time thing isn't entirely fixed by the workarounds. While I can confirm that the fix prevents the system clock from running fast/slow on Windows, there appears to be other issues that are causing time-sync problems that have not yet been resolved.

3) DId I mention no time? :)

Seriously, I do hope to get DVA out sometime soon. But I need to get a few hours in on it and at least one more pass by the beta testers before it can be released. I'd love to give a more specific date, but alas, I really can't right now :-(

Ditto! I use MyReplayTV.com frequently.

gduprey: Mega congrats!!! I have been watching the Screen Savers semi-regularly since they first premiered on DirecTV. Great show! My wife and I traveled to San Francisco on vacation, and attended a filming. The people there are incredibly nice, and we had lots of fun! Great job!

Oh, and by the way, GREAT JOB on DVArchive! I have been using it to archive movies to DVD, as well as stream shows back to the ReplayTV box. This is the kind of program that ReplayTV should have included from the beginning. If course, sometimes, it takes "the little guy" to come up with the breakthrough!

Gerry,

My thanks too for DVA (as well as to all who helped in its creation.)

2 notes: I have a 1 Hr MQ recording on a stock 5040 which I could not stream to another 5040 without it locking up and having to reboot both 5040's to get them back to seeing each other. On a whim I sent the stream to DVA which I had finally installed, and it streamed from the PC with no problems at all! Not even the normal 1-2 seconds of hesitation streaming 5040 5040!

Second: I moved many (20 or so) 30 min and 1 Hr LQ shows at one shot from a 5040 to DVA, and did not have any problem with the clock drifting on the PC. This was on a fresh XP install, and I have not yet set it up with an NTP client.

Perhaps the clock drift does not apply to all motherboards.

I have a home brew PC using an Abit BH6 (and a lowly over-clocked Celeron 300 -> 450), FWIW...

My TechTv has been replaced by the YES channel. Can someone record this and send it to me? Does this count as a show request? Darn - I bet it does. Then I retract my request. Maybe someone can just tell me about it.
