Do you have to point the remote at the Terk Remote Control Extender? I would like to hide it under the couch but I'm not sure it will actually work that way.

Any help would be appreciated.

do you guys use rechargeable batteries with the next gen half sized battery?

I'm after buying more replacement parts for this next gen saucer thing and the batteries never last more then a week regardless of the remote. I think I have six batteries now, three transmitters. Even replaced the entire unit once.

I don't, I use regular alkaline batteries along with the transmitter battey which needs recharging in the spaceship/charger every couple of months....the alkaline is replaced even less frequently than that.

With that said, I had a situation recently where I would replace the rechargeable transmitter battery and within ~24 hours it was dead. After some trial and error I determined that the tranmsmitter was somehow malfunctioning and causing the rechargeable (transmitter) battery to drain. It's worth mentioning that I have two of these NGHP kits (one of each frequency) so I was able to determine that there was no problem with the base/charger or the batteries that were being charged.

I contacted NGHP and although the kit in question was out of warranty (it was over a year old) they quickly agreed to replace it if I sent them the malfunctioning unit.....very nice of them, I thought. Anyway, got the new kit and all is well.

I just bought THIS and so far, it's working great. I use it for my cable box so I don't have to rent two boxes. But yesterday, the cable box was changing channels by itself. Since I live in an apartment, I have a slight hunch that someone else in my building has the same thing for the same cable box. So, I may be getting interfered. I'll have to see if I can break out of his frequency by playing around with the antenna.
