Hi folks, new plasma owner here.

When I ran my initial program scan (Comcast cable/ no STB) in addition to the normal channels, I get a bunch of odd channel numbers with nothing on them. Like 80-1, 80-2...80-15 or 115-1, 115-2...115-20. Why are these there and how do I get rid of them?

Also, I should get ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, PBS and maybe WB ATSC channels. But I only have found NBC so far. It shows up as 4-5, right after the std channel 4.

Appreciate any input.

Those blank channels are encrypted digital channels like HBO, etc. You can delete them in Setup->Program Ch->Manual Program.

I just leave them alone and add the clear channels to the Favorite and set Surf Mode to Favorites.

The channel numbers of the clear channels differ area by area. Mine are all in the sub-channels in 82 to 85 range. You might want to ask in your Local HDTV Info & Reception thread.

Those channels are most likely the Video on Demand channels. They'd only be used if someone were watching a Video on Demand at that moment. You can see just about anything on those, including things you wouldn't want your small children to be in the room for.

I guess, delete them manually, if you can, after you run the channel scan.

Thanks. I like the idea of putting the good ones into Favorites and setting it to Surf Mode.

I'm still at a loss as to why one of my ATSC locals is "where it belongs" and the others are apparently cryptically labeled. I'll check the other forum.

Edited for typo.
