50-55 inch, Great colors and 3D(just to have it and try it out. I own a Vizio 37 inch, which is nice, but would love deeper blacks. I was looking at Pannys, but too expensive. Can someone lead me in the right direction in my budget price. Thanks alot!

Perhaps you could share what your budget is and generally give us more information? That would be helpful. Thanks.

underbuying frequently costs more than buying the right tv the first time...

if you can't afford at least the s60, keep saving. aim for a st60, vt60, zt60, or f8500 if you want something that will make you happy for years to come. I fear anything you can buy for 500bux(that isn't bigger than 32inches) will leave you asking the exact same question 6months from now...

sorry to burst your bubble

At that price, the only ones you can buy are used 720p Samsung 3D plasma and LG 3D plasma. Avoid an LG if you can't at least perform a black tweak. If you're stepping up for a Panny, you will still have to choose from deep blacks and 3D as the S60 do not have 3D, but do have deep black. I wanted 3D too, but having used the S64 for few weeks, I don't think I want to give up wicked deep blacks for 3D.

My 42 inch Samsung is not the best plasma. However, it looks good and the blacks look good to me too. Much better then the best LED LCDs I see. And the motion stuff just looks perfect to me.

So if you had to settle for a samsung for now, it is not the end of the world. Brandsmart has a 51 inch Samsung for 427.99.

It may not be the best TV, but it is a plasma and 51 inches. It is not 3d though.

Take a look on Craigslist for a G25, GT25, ST50, or GT50. Decent blacks in the 25 series and great blacks in the 50 series and both without some of the issues found in earlier models.

How about the Samsung PN51F5300 51-Inch 1080p 600Hz Plasma HDTV No 3D, but goes for almost $600. Please experts help me out. Thanks.

But you said you want 3D so I didn't mention the F5300. It's a nice TV too. Its black is not as good as the S60, but its motion performance is superior. Pick it if you value better motions over better blacks.

Not that I know of. I chose Panasonic S60/S64 because it has the best blacks for its price point.

Oh, if you are fine with buying a previous year plasma, the UT50/ST50/GT50 is also a good choice. Similiar black as the S60, but also have 3D.

Would you rate the UT50 over the S64 for overall picture quality? I am trying to decide between the two. I go more into depth here:  http://www.avsforum.com/t/1474301/panasonic-tc-65ps64-and-tc-50ps64-owners-poll/630#post_24015491

I used to prefer the UT50 over the S60 when I was comparing the two in a light controlled showroom. What put me off first about the S60 was the dithering. The U50 was relatively clean. At that time, I also thought the UT50 had a smidgen better black. Turned out it was just the S60 on torch mode playing havoc. Both are pretty close and great TVs but the S60 is indeed brighter.

Right now, I am happier now that I was able to go with the S64 over the UT50. I did have many look at both the U50 and the UT50 as those two were the ones I was going to buy last year because of great value. Both displays have no problem handling movies, but I think I am happier with my S64's brightness and increased gamut which can give a bit more pop if I wanted. The UT50 is more honest in presentation. The UT50 has better motion performance though.
