Bob Ross: Has there been any final plans for HD-ing the NFL on CBS Thanksgiving Day? How about the Macy's Parade?

I think they usually annouce this stuff a couple weeks before the event so it will be a week or so. Knowing CBS I would be VERY surprised if it was not in HD!
I think we already figured out that it will not be in HD, due to the college game they are committed to carry.
But if a different company like Panasonic sponsors the game they will be able to obtain different equipment so they would not need to tear down and haul everything to Detroit or Dallas. We'll just have to wait and see!
I would love to see the Macey's Thanksgiving's Day parade in HD. I usually end up watching the parade on NBC, but if CBS carried it (are there broadcast rights involved, or can anyone broadcast the parade?) I would definitely be watching it on CBS! What an endorsement for HDTV that everyone would see. That's got to be the most watched event by more people all year long, even more, I would bet, than the Super Bowl.
Hi All,

We will not be doing the Thanksgiving NFL game in HDTV.... But we will be moving the ball down field. When all the stores are open on the busiest shopping day of the year we will air the Arkansas/LSU game at 3:30.

Lots of people buying HD sets - I hope

Bob
I bought my HDTV and switched to Dish Network, just because CBS started broadcasting college football in HD this season.

Thanks Bob and CBS

Jerry
Bob -- great news for Friday! Now is there any chance that Saturday's FSU-Florida game will be in HD?
Benji:

The Florida/FSU game Saturday night indeed will be in HD with CBS's regular announcing crew of Verne Lundquist/Todd Blackledge/Jill Arrington. The Alabama/Auburn game Saturday afternoon will be SD I presume.
It's actually too bad about Turkey day. Was having non-hdtv aware relatives over, and was hoping that I could sell a few HDTV's. Guess it's just another missed opportunity.

It's amazing in this day and age that there are so many 'non-hdtv aware' people out there. Back in the 50's and 60's everyone knew about color tv but few owned one. I'd be willing to wager that no more than 25% of the population knows what an HDTV is.

Well if it looks as bad as it did last Saturday, I doubt dealers will sell HDTV. None of the college games have looked as good as CBS NFL HDTV games from last year. What's going on? Also show the replays in a window box, crappy SD stretch looks terrible.

What about December 1? The pre-scheduled Army-Navy game (blech!) or the powerhouse battle between two top 10 teams that is Florida-Tennessee (which was originally supposed to be in HD on 9/15)?

Rats!

I think just as many or more HD sets are sold after seeing one in someone's home. I know four people who have bought HD sets after seeing mine.

Thanksgiving is a big gathering day. I am having both HD-aware and non-HD aware relatives and semi-relatives on Thanksgiving. And, naturally, there is interest here in watching the Broncos on Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, I'll just have to explain again that HD NFL is still pretty much non-existent.

Yeah, it just looked aweful, I could barely look at it. Seriously, my friends were blown away by the PQ of last weeks game. It may not have been up to par to our standards, but J6P is still going to see a GIGANTIC difference between it and regular SD.

Any word on whether CBS is planning to air any playoff games in HD ? I'm pretty new to the OTA experience ( we just started receiving CBS broadcasts in Nashville over a week ago ) and am more of a pro football fan than a college one.

If I can recap what I believe, I'd appeciate anyones input to confirm I have it right. CBS airs 1 SEC game a week in HD. Their inability to air NFL on Sunday at this point is due to costs/logistics to tear down/transport/setup their HD equipment at an NFL site in time for a Sunday kickoff ??? Due to limited amount of HD equipment (cameras, etc) at this point in time??

Tell me what you know. Thanks.

Couldn't have stated it any better myself.
